Amangiri sits within 900 acres of the Colorado Plateau in Canyon Point, southern Utah, close to the Arizona border. Its 34 modernist suites are built into the red-rock landscape, alongside an Aman Spa and a pool that follows the line of a mesa. The design draws on the surrounding dunes, plateaus and ridges rather than adding ornament to them.
A short distance away, Camp Sarika serves as Amangiri's satellite retreat: ten tented pavilions, each fitted with a private plunge pool, built for guests who want a more physical connection with the desert. Between the two properties, two restaurants provide full-board dining built around the flavours of the American Southwest. Guests can arrange outdoor experiences ranging from helicopter flights over the rock formations to hikes through slot canyons, as well as a private evening walk to a secluded spot known as the Sunset Trail, where canapés and Champagne are served as the sun sets behind the mesas.
Getting there requires some planning. Page Municipal Airport, roughly 25 minutes from the resort, is the nearest airstrip; St George, Utah, and Flagstaff, Arizona are about two and a half hours by road, while Phoenix and Las Vegas are around four and a half hours away, with routes passing several national parks. Amangiri works with RYL Jets for private charter arrangements. The resort also hosts weddings and private events, and runs a Desert Rejuvenation wellness programme alongside a Detoxification Programme developed with Novak Djokovic.
