The Ritz-Carlton, Masai Mara Safari Camp sits among trees in the Masai Mara National Reserve, its 20 suites raised above the ground on a treetop vantage point overlooking the Sand River and the savannah beyond. Each suite has a private deck and a plunge pool, and each guest is assigned a personal butler, called an Encholiek in Maasai tradition, who arranges game drives, in-suite dining and other details of the stay. The camp can also be booked in full, all 20 suites at once, for a single group.
Dining centres on Nest, the main restaurant, which has a private wine cellar, an outdoor restaurant deck and a sky deck used for stargazing dinners. The Canopy bar lounge serves cocktails and wine beside a fire pit. Guests can also take bush breakfasts, sundowners and an evening Boma meal built around Nyama Choma and ugali, with Maasai storytelling and dance around the fire. Safari activities include twice daily game drives led by guides certified by the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association, visits to a Maasai village, and use of the Discovery Hub, which houses a Map Room for charting the Great Migration and a Photography Studio with cameras for guest use. The Whispering Tree Spa offers treatments built around Acacia, shea butter and aloe, alongside a fitness centre, sauna and steam rooms at the Wellness Hub, and an outdoor heated pool.
Access is by air to the Keekorok airstrip, roughly an hour's flight from Nairobi, followed by a further hour's game drive to reach the camp; the nearer Mara Serena Airstrip, 21.2 km away, has a complimentary shuttle. Children under six are not accepted, a policy the camp states is meant to preserve a calm atmosphere for all guests. Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve charges separate park entry fees, which the camp can prepay on a guest's behalf.
