The Saudi Red Sea

Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast has a hundred islands and a reef system that, because the country was closed to tourism until 2019, has been very lightly dived. The development at Shura Island and Amaala is deliberately low density and the first resorts are open. It suits divers and people who want a beach with nobody on it, and it is a short flight from Jeddah or direct into the new coastal airport. The water is warm all year; the shoulder months either side of summer are the comfortable ones.
