Amankila sits on a lush hillside beneath Mount Agung, on Bali's east coast overlooking the Lombok Strait. Frangipani-lined walkways lead through the treetops to connect the resort's stilted suites, and at the property's heart a three-tier infinity pool cascades down toward the sea. The Beach Club leads guests down to a private stretch of black-sand beach, the resort's own frontage on the Strait.
Accommodation is split between two categories. The Pavilions stand on stilts among the treetops, opening onto airy private terraces with either garden or ocean views and a close connection to the surrounding hillside. The Villas are set apart for greater privacy, with expansive living spaces, private pools and views across the coastline and the hills beyond.
Days can be filled with yoga and movement classes led by resident and visiting practitioners, spanning hatha, pranayama, vinyasa flow and Laughing Yoga. Two traditional outriggers are available for exploring the Lombok Strait, home to some of East Bali's best snorkelling and diving, including Manta Point and Crystal Bay. Dining draws on Bali's volcanic soil and surrounding waters, with a seasonal, family-style approach across the resort's venues, among them Arva, Sandikala, the Terrace Bar, Beach Club and Harvest Table. Amankila is a 1.5-hour drive from Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, and by private car it is roughly 1.5 hours to Amandari in Ubud and 2 hours to Aman Villas at Nusa Dua.
