OMO5 Otaru

OMO5 Otaru occupies two buildings at 1-6-31 Ironai, Otaru, on Hokkaido's west coast. The south building is a renovated structure designated as historic by Otaru City, kept with its original high windows and a retro atmosphere that recalls the Meiji-era port town. The hotel sits about nine minutes on foot from JR Otaru Station and about nine minutes from Otaru Canal, close to the row of old buildings known locally as the Wall Street of the North and near Sushi Town, a street of long-established sushi restaurants. New Chitose Airport is roughly 70 minutes away by car.

The hotel holds 92 rooms across the two buildings, with room occupancy for one to three guests. OMO Cafe & Bar serves a breakfast buffet from 6:30 to 9:30 in the morning, built around Otaru's port food culture, with a seafood chirashi "parfait," fried churros and dishes from Nantaru Market. The same space runs a cafe hour in the afternoon under coloured chandeliers and a bar hour in the evening by a lit fireplace, with wine and whisky among the drinks on offer. On-site facilities include a restaurant, a café and lounge, a spa and massage service, a playroom, a pool, an onsen and a public bath, a meeting room, a laundromat and vending machines, and the property is smoke-free throughout.

OMO organises excursions around the town itself: a canal cruise, a morning-market outing to make seafood rice bowls, a stop for LeTAO desserts, an oil lamp night lounge, a Japanese whisky itinerary and a ski and snowboard trip for the 2026-27 season. The area beyond the hotel includes Kiroro Snow World for skiing, the Otaru Canal itself, NIKI Hills Winery, the Yoichi Distillery with its free guided tours, and the Shakotan Peninsula at Cape Kamui. Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. Wi-Fi is free throughout the rooms and in some public areas. Pets are not permitted, and there is no shuttle service; parking is available on a first-come basis at the hotel or at partner lots, with a fee.
