RISONARE Kohamajima

RISONARE Kohamajima stands on Kohama Island in Okinawa's Yaeyama archipelago, reached by a 25-minute boat from Ishigaki Port Remote Island Terminal to Kohama Port, followed by a 10-minute shuttle bus to the resort. The property has 60 rooms, with room occupancy ranging from one to four guests. Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM.

The resort fronts a beach that stretches for about 2km, with white sand and highly transparent water. Two pools sit within the grounds: the Beach Pool, an infinity pool overlooking the sea that operates as a heated pool from December to February, and the Lagoon Pool, illuminated at night. Golfers can play at Kohamajima Country Club, a course built along the coral reef coastline. Dining runs across five restaurants and one café, including the Ooli Ooli buffet restaurant serving Okinawan and Mediterranean dishes, Books & Cafe overlooking the sea, and the Tingala Night Dinner, a beachfront dinner served along the 2km shoreline.

Kohama Island is designated a Dark Sky Place, noted on the resort's site as Japan's first Dark Sky Park, and the grounds include the Tingala Hammock, a large hammock set out for stargazing. Other facilities include a spa and massage service, an onsen, a public bath, a craft room for activities such as Ryukyu glass candle making and Shisa craft, and a shop. Children under seven may share a bed up to the room's maximum occupancy, and one barrier-free room is available within the superior suite category. Pets are not allowed, and the resort's facilities are reserved for guests, with the exception of the golf course.
