The Bazaruto archipelago is five sand islands off the Mozambican coast, inside a national park, with some of the last dugong in East Africa and whale sharks between October and March. The lodges are small, barefoot and expensive, and the diving and the fly fishing are the reason to come. It is the natural ocean finish to a South African safari: a short flight from Johannesburg or Kruger to Vilanculos and a helicopter or boat out. The dry season runs April to October; cyclones are possible from January to March.
