Amanwella sits on Sri Lanka's south coast in Tangalle, reached by a track through jungle that opens onto a stretch of golden sand fringed with coconut palms. The property is close to temples, tea plantations and some of the country's national parks, giving guests a base for both coastal and inland exploration. The resort opened in 2005.
Accommodation is arranged in Suites, each with its own private plunge pool and a sea-facing terrace that includes a dining area and sun loungers. Dining draws on Sri Lanka's culinary variety, with a menu of authentic dishes alongside Asian and Mediterranean classics.
Guests can join a personal yoga instructor on the beach at sunrise, or arrange personal training tailored to individual fitness levels. A four-night, half-board wildlife experience combines an elephant safari, a bicycle tour and picnics, drawing on national parks within about 1.5 hours by car.
