Baur au Lac has stood in its own park on the shores of Lake Zurich since 1844, run by the same family for seven generations. The hotel sits a short walk from the Bahnhofstrasse, Bürkliplatz and the Old Town, with the Tonhalle and the Opera House nearby. It is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and Swiss Deluxe Hotels, and has been awarded three keys by the Guide Michelin for two consecutive years; the Falstaff Travel Guide named it Best City-Hotel.
Rooms and suites are individually furnished, with views of the private park, the city, Lake Zurich or the Alps depending on category. Suites include the City Suite, River Suite, Lakeside Suite and Lakeside Corner Suite, the last of these at around 90 square metres with views over the park, the lake and the Schanzengraben. Junior Suites and Lakeside Junior Suites are designed to feel like a furnished flat, with large living areas and sofas. Double and Single Rooms complete the range, and rooms and suites in selected categories can be connected, in some cases up to seven at a time, for families travelling together.
Dining is spread across Marguita on the lake, the seasonal Baur's Brasserie & Bar, and Le Hall, the hotel's historic lobby bar. Baur au Lac Vins, the hotel's own wine shop, has traded since 1844. For meetings and celebrations, the hotel offers a set of event spaces including the ballroom Le Petit Palais, which can host up to 300 guests when combined with Salon I and II, and the outdoor Lindenplatz in the hotel park. Guests travelling with dogs are welcome, and children are looked after with cots, connecting rooms and the hotel's own soft toys, Leo and Eli.

- What are the check-in and check-out times?
- Check-in is available from 3.00pm, and check-out is by 12.00 noon. Early check-in or late check-out can be requested at the time of booking, subject to availability.

- Cancellation is free of charge up to 24 hours before the date of arrival, by 12 noon. Later cancellations or no-shows incur charges, and different, longer cancellation periods may apply at times of high demand, as stated in the booking confirmation.
