Mandarin Oriental, Geneva stands at Quai Turrettini 1, on the right bank of the Rhône River, within walking distance of the Old Town, the Jet d'Eau, St Peter's Cathedral and the Rue du Rhône shopping district. The building opened in 1950 as the Hôtel du Rhône, the first hotel built in Europe after the Second World War, and became part of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in 2000. Geneva International Airport is roughly 5 to 7 kilometres away, about 15 to 20 minutes by road.

The hotel has 178 rooms and suites in total: 143 rooms, all with marble bathrooms, and 35 suites, many with private terraces and views over the river. Room categories range from the Superior Room, with a queen bed and marble bath, through to the Family Suite and Panoramic Junior Suite, up to the top-floor Royal Suite and the Three-Bedroom Royal Terrace Suite, which has a 175-square-metre terrace reached by a private lift. Connecting rooms can be arranged for families on request, and the hotel welcomes dogs up to 15 kilograms with no additional fee.

Dining runs across three outlets: MO Bar for cocktails and light fare, Ottolenghi for a vegetable-forward Mediterranean menu, and SACHI, the hotel's Japanese restaurant, which also runs an Omakase counter. In-room dining operates around the clock. For wellness, guests can use Ambassade Biologique Recherche for face, body and scalp treatments, the first Swiss branch of the barber salon La Barbière de Paris, a 24-hour fitness centre with TechnoGym equipment, a private yoga studio, and separate sauna and hammam facilities open from 8am to 8pm. Meeting and banqueting space can accommodate up to 350 guests, with some function rooms overlooking the Rhône.
