Alila Ventana Big Sur sits along Highway One, where the Santa Lucia Mountains meet the Pacific coastline. The resort's 54 rooms and suites are grouped in secluded clusters across a 160-acre property of redwoods and meadow, each with a private balcony or patio and, in many cases, a private hot tub or wood-burning fireplace.

Every stay includes dining at The Sur House, an ocean-view restaurant serving Mediterranean-inspired dishes built on ingredients from the property's organic garden and Central Coast purveyors. Guests also receive complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, a stocked in-suite minibar, refillable water bottles and complimentary valet parking. The Glass House offers a private, eight-course tasting menu by Chef Andrew Lauer for a minimum of two and a maximum of twelve guests, with wine or non-alcoholic pairing. SurStream, a converted Airstream set among redwood trees, serves pizzas, salads and gelato on Fridays and Saturdays, and is scheduled to reopen in May 2026.

Spa Alila works from outdoor cabanas for couples treatments and welcomes guests aged 18 and over by advance reservation. The property's fitness centre is open 24 hours daily. Complimentary activities include a Forager's Hike, a Forest Bathing session and the Coast Ridge Hike, a two-mile out-and-back climb along the Coast Ridge with views of the Ventana Wilderness. A separate glamping site of tent-only pitches follows Post Creek through a 40-acre redwood canyon.
