نظرة عامة

Linkwasha Camp lies in the south-eastern corner of Hwange National Park, on the edge of the Ngamo Plains. The camp has traversing rights across the private Linkwasha and Makalolo concessions, a combined 34,000 hectares of teak woodland, open savannah and Kalahari sand. Fourteen solar-hybrid pumped pans keep water available through the dry season, drawing elephant, buffalo and plains game such as roan and sable antelope. Lion prides, African wild dog and cheetah hunt across the open ground.

The camp has nine tented suites, decorated in neutral tones with Ndebele patterns echoed in cushions and locally sourced baskets, a style drawn from the homes of nearby communities. A sunken hide looks directly onto the camp waterhole, putting guests at eye level with visiting elephant and other wildlife. A Star Bed sleep-out deck allows a night under open sky, with hyena calls and owls for company. The camp also has a swimming pool, Wi-Fi, and a family room.

Meals are prepared fresh and adapted to dietary needs. On traditional menu nights, the kitchen serves fire-roasted bread, spicy corn soup, sadza, sugar beans and braised Zimbabwean beef with local relish, finished with an Amarula chocolate mousse. Activities include game drives across the plains and woodland, and a conservation visit to a nearby community project. Wilderness has supported the Scorpion Anti-Poaching Unit in partnership with Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority since 2012, and runs a Children in the Wilderness Eco-Club at Ngamo Primary School on the edge of the park.
