Siem Reap & Angkor
The temples at dawn, colonial hotels in town and a lake the size of a province.
Our notes
Siem Reap exists for Angkor, and Angkor deserves three days rather than one: Angkor Wat at sunrise, Bayon and Ta Prohm, and the outlying temples at Banteay Srei and Beng Mealea when the crowds are at the main complex. The town has a handful of very good hotels, several in restored colonial buildings, and a food scene beyond its size. The dry season is November to March; April and May are extremely hot; the rains green everything from June.
