South India is a separate country in everything but passport: different languages, different food, and a climate the north would envy. Bengaluru sits at nine hundred metres and stays temperate all year; Coorg, four hours west, has the coffee estates and the plantation bungalows; Kerala's backwaters around Ashtamudi and Kollam are navigated by houseboat and the Arabian Sea beaches are south of them. Chennai and Hyderabad have the grand city hotels. The monsoon runs June to September on the west coast, which is also when the hills are at their greenest.
