Namibia
The oldest desert on earth, dunes at Sossusvlei and lodges with nobody else in sight.
Our notes
Namibia is a driving and flying country: enormous distances, almost no people, and light that photographers plan trips around. Sossusvlei's dunes are the image everyone knows; Damaraland has desert adapted elephant and rhino; the Skeleton Coast is bleak and extraordinary. Lodges are remote and the good ones are small. Self drive is possible on the main routes, but the light aircraft circuit saves days. May to October is dry and cool at night.
