Prague

A city that survived the twentieth century intact, hotels in baroque palaces, and music every night.

Our notes

Prague's old town, castle and Charles Bridge are as they were, which is why the crowds come. The answer is a hotel in a converted palace on the Malá Strana side of the river, an early start for the castle and a guide for the Jewish quarter. Evenings are for concerts in baroque churches and dinner in the restaurants that have transformed Czech cooking in the last decade. Two or three nights pairs well with Vienna, four hours by train, for a week in Central Europe.
