Hotel · Lake Lucerne, Switzerland
Two wings, Heritage and Contemporary, share one funicular ascent above Lake Lucerne and 211 rooms with lake or mountain views.
The Bürgenstock Hotel & Alpine Spa sits above Lake Lucerne and is reached by crossing the lake and riding the Bürgenstock Funicular up the mountainside. The hotel is built around two distinct characters. The Heritage keeps Belle Époque style with elegant interiors, while The Contemporary uses glass architecture that sets rooms and suites against the surrounding scenery. Between the two wings the hotel counts 211 rooms, each with a lake or mountain outlook.
Room categories range from the Contemporary Deluxe Room and Heritage Alpine Deluxe Room, both around 33 to 42 square metres with a king-size bed, up to the Contemporary Lake View Royal Suite at 308 square metres. Contemporary rooms and suites are fitted with double-sided fireplaces and sky seats set against glass walls. A Contemporary Family Suite offers two bedrooms and two king-size beds. The Heritage side includes a Lake View Cottage at 120 square metres.
Dining within the hotel includes Spices Kitchen & Terrace, an Asian restaurant on an overhanging platform with an open show kitchen, holding 16 Gault & Millau points, and the Lakeview Bar with views over Lake Lucerne. The Alpine Spa is described as a design suspended between lake and sky. Guests also have access to resort facilities including the Bürgenstock Funicular, the Hammetschwand Lift, the Diamond Domes tennis courts, Bürgenstock Alpine Golf and the Bürgenstock Cinema.
