Overview

Imperiale Palace Hotel occupies a 19th-century villa on the seafront at Santa Margherita Ligure, overlooking the Gulf of Tigullio. The building dates to 1889 and retains its Liberty-style, or Art Nouveau, architecture, with period details that run through the public rooms and the twelve categories of rooms and suites.

Accommodation ranges from the Double Room, at 22 to 24 square metres with a rear view, through to the Imperial Suite Terrace, which combines roughly 48 square metres of interior space with a 200 square metre terrace overlooking the sea. Other categories include the Junior Suite Family on the ground floor, suited to four guests, the Junior Suite Executive Sea View at 40 square metres, and the Tower Suite at 60 square metres. Rooms are finished with parquet flooring, Murano glass chandeliers and marble bathrooms stocked with Acqua di Parma toiletries; Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a safe and a minibar are standard.

The hotel runs three restaurants and bars. Caffè del Trattato serves cocktails and aperitifs in a Liberty-style setting; Imperiale a Mare sits directly above the water with views toward Santa Margherita Ligure and the Portofino coastline; and Novecento Restaurant, set beneath frescoes and marble, is run by Chef Paolo Modena and Maître d'hôtel Mauro Tazzara. The property also has a sea-view gym and hosts events and ceremonies.
