Overview

The Fifth Avenue Hotel sits at the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 28th Street in NoMad, on the former estate of Gilded Age hostess Mrs. Charlotte Goodridge. The mansion later housed an art gallery, then the Second National Bank, designed by McKim, Mead & White. A ten-year restoration by Flâneur Hospitality, founded by Alex Ohebshalom, joined the original brick and limestone palazzo to a new 24-story glass tower. Interiors throughout both buildings are by Martin Brudnizki, with photographs by William Klein, Gordon Parks and Melvin Sokolsky on the walls.

Guests choose between two experiences. The Tower holds king and queen rooms, junior suites, and two Signature Suites, the Topiary Suite and the One Bedroom Terrace Suite, with a front-desk check-in and shared butler service. The Mansion comprises 21 suites and the Flâneur Penthouse, which spans the entire seventh floor with two king bedrooms, a working fireplace, a full-wall wet bar and a 900-square-foot wraparound terrace with a Japanese soaking tub. Mansion guests receive a pre-arrival planning call, floor-assigned butlers and an expanded maxibar with select spirits. Rooms throughout carry Duxiana beds, Italian linens, Frette bath linens, marble bathrooms, Nespresso coffee makers and a personal tablet, along with Martini, Tea and Book Rituals delivered in-room.

Dining centres on Café Carmellini, the signature restaurant from James Beard Award-winning chef Andrew Carmellini, open to hotel guests and visitors, with reservations recommended. The Portrait Bar, named for the artwork on its wood-panelled walls, serves cocktails and bar fare by a carved stone fireplace. The hotel belongs to The Leading Hotels of the World's Leaders Club and was named the top hotel in New York City by Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards in 2025 and 2026.
