Overview

The New York EDITION occupies 5 Madison Avenue, a building constructed in 1909 as the headquarters of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Its clocktower, visible across the Flatiron District, gives 360-degree views of the city and sits a short walk from Madison Square Park, Madison Square Garden and Midtown. Ian Schrager designed the interiors, which run through 271 guest rooms and suites, a spa, event spaces and a restaurant.

Rooms have oak floors and dark oak wood-paneled foyers. Windows frame views that range from Madison Square Park to the Empire State Building and the wider New York City skyline.

Dining runs through The Clocktower, a contemporary British restaurant set across three dining rooms overlooking Madison Square Park, with breakfast, weekend brunch and dinner served daily. The Bar at The Clocktower adjoins the restaurant, its decor built around a fiberglass globe chandelier, a 24-karat gold leaf bar and carved plaster ceilings. The Lobby Bar, with floor-to-ceiling windows onto Madison Square Park, serves seasonal cocktails and light bites into the evening. Room service runs through the day. The spa sits on the 39th floor, open Tuesday to Sunday, and the gym operates around the clock with four Peloton bicycles and Life Cycle equipment.
