A 22-cabin and suite Nile cruiser sailing between Luxor and Aswan, with river views from every room and excursions to Philae Temple and the High Dam.
The Oberoi Philae sails the River Nile between Luxor and Aswan, carrying guests past temples and tombs that line the river's banks. The ship holds 22 cabins and suites, each with an openable window onto the Nile and a private changing room. Itineraries run as two nights and three days or three nights and four days, departing on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with embarkation from either Luxor or Aswan.
Accommodation ranges from the 36 sqm Luxury Cabin, with a king size bed and ensuite bathroom, to the Luxury Suite with Terrace at 85 sqm total, 55 sqm of which is interior, which adds a private terrace, a heated outdoor whirlpool and a freestanding bathtub. The Main Restaurant serves Western, Indian, Asian and Middle Eastern dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with smart casual dress required at dinner. The Poolside Restaurant offers light meals and a barbecue lunch menu beneath a canopy by day. In the evening, the Bar and Library Lounge has a dance floor, a movie theatre and Cuban cigars on the upper deck. The Oberoi Spa has treatment rooms with Nile views and offers Thai, Balinese, Swedish and Oberoi signature massage. An 11 metre pool and an air conditioned fitness centre sit on the upper deck. Dining and spa facilities are kept for guests staying aboard.
Shore excursions take in Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis, with sections dating to between 380 and 362 BC. After the building of the High Dam in 1971, the temple was moved stone by stone to the island of Agilika in a UNESCO-led project that took over nine years. The High Dam itself runs 3,830 metres long, 111 metres high and 980 metres wide, with a visitors' pavilion explaining its construction. Further stops include the twin temples of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the falcon god Haroeris and the crocodile god Sobek, the Nubian Museum, which documents the rescue of monuments ahead of the rising waters of Lake Nasser, and the city of Aswan, 240 kilometres along the river from Luxor.
