Overview

The Sanubari occupies a 100-hectare reserve at Pantai Dasang, in Laboya Barat, West Sumba Regency, on land belonging to the Marapu people. The resort fronts two kilometres of white sand beach on Sumba's west coast, an island known for megalithic culture and uncrowded surf breaks. Villas are built with premium materials, handcrafted furniture and local artisan weavings and carvings, with oversized windows connecting interiors to the garden and ocean setting outside.

Four villa categories are offered, from a 110 square metre Garden pool villa to a 230 square metre Beachfront Two bedroom pool villa with a lounge and ensuite bathrooms. All include a private pool, air conditioning, wifi, a mini bar and a safe. The beachfront categories add ocean views and outdoor showers, and the larger villas include a bath tub or a second bedroom for families or groups travelling together.

The restaurant sits by the sea and runs on a farm-to-table approach, working with local farmers and the resort's own grounds for seasonal fruit and vegetables, alongside sustainable line-caught seafood from the waters in front of the property. Housemade cocktails are served at the beachfront bar. Beyond the villas and restaurant, the resort connects guests to Sumba itself: surfing along the coast, horseback riding, swimming with horses, cultural artisan programmes and visits to megalithic sites on the island.
