Villa Honegg sits at 914 metres above Lake Lucerne, an Art Nouveau villa built in 1905 and reopened as a 25-room hotel in 2011.
Villa Honegg stands at 914 metres above Lake Lucerne, on the Bürgenstock above Ennetbürgen. The Art Nouveau building was designed and built by Emil Durrer in 1905, without an architect, and opened the following year as Hotel Honegg with 72 beds. The hotel passed through three generations of the Durrer family, operated as a summer business, and later served as a film set after changing ownership in 1977. It has been under private ownership since 2007 and reopened in May 2011 after a multi-year renovation that kept its historic character.
The hotel now has 25 rooms. A heated outdoor pool, kept at 34°C, looks out over the mountains and the lake, or over cloud cover in the valley below depending on the season. The indoor spa area has a panoramic window and wellness loungers, alongside a bio sauna at 55°C and a Finnish sauna at 85°C. The gym is fitted with Technogym equipment, including Power Plate and kinesis machines. Treatments use products by Swiss Perfection.
Head Chef Nadine Stadelmann runs the kitchen under a concept called HONexquisite, built around regional, seasonal ingredients; her cooking has been awarded 15 points by Gault et Millau. Guests can eat in the main restaurant, the bar '1905', the cigar lounge, or the salon, all built around open fires in winter. The sun terrace opens from March, weather permitting. From November to March, the Honegg Stübli serves Swiss cheese fondue and Fondue Chinoise to groups of up to ten. By car, Zurich Airport is an hour away, Lucerne railway station 30 minutes, and Stans railway station 20 minutes; a helicopter can land on a meadow 150 metres from the hotel.
