Our notes
Mauritius has a hotel tradition that runs deeper than most islands, and it shows in the service. The lagoon is calm behind the reef, the east coast has the classic resorts, the west has the sunsets and the calmer weather in winter, and the interior is tea plantations, waterfalls and a national park that most visitors never see. Kitesurfing, golf and diving are all serious here. We choose the coast for the season, the resort for the party, and arrange the interior day with a guide who grew up there.
