Overview
Awasi Patagonia sits within a private reserve near Estancia Tercera Barranca, facing the granite towers of Torres del Paine and Lake Sarmiento. A dense stand of native lenga and ñirre trees shelters the lodge from the region's strong winds, and the surrounding land supports guanacos, ñandus, foxes, condors and, occasionally, pumas.
The lodge has only sixteen stand-alone villas, each with a direct view of the mountain range. The Cenit Villa is oval-shaped and spans nearly 180 square metres, built as an intimate, fully private space. The Master Villa is a two-bedroom layout with a king bed or two twin beds in each room and a separate seating area. The Standard Villa offers one king bed or two twin beds, a wood-burning fireplace and central heating. Every room is paired with its own guide and 4x4 vehicle, so each stay is planned around the pace and interests of the guests staying there, from the Base Torres trail into the Ascencio Valley to a ferry crossing of Lake Pehoe toward Grey Glacier, horseback riding on a nearby estancia, or pre-dawn tracking of pumas across the reserve's 7,000-acre grounds with a dedicated wildlife team, available at an additional cost.
The restaurant is reserved for guests staying at the lodge. Chef Natalia Paz, who trained in Santiago de Chile, builds a daily menu around fish from the South Pacific fjords, southern king crab, locally reared lamb and native berries, in keeping with Awasi's membership of Relais & Châteaux. Guests generally fly to Puerto Natales, roughly two hours from the lodge by road, or to Punta Arenas, around four hours away; private transfers are included in line with check-in and check-out times.
