Overview

Esperanza occupies a stretch of the Punta Ballena coastline in Cabo San Lucas, named for its resemblance to a whale's tail. The resort describes itself as the only private beach resort in Los Cabos. Five restaurants operate on site, including Cocina del Mar, set on a rocky promontory surrounded by crashing waves, along with La Palapa, Las Estrellas and Alma. An executive chef designs the menus across all five.

Accommodation is arranged across four categories: casitas and suites, villas, casonas, and haciendas. Casitas measure 925 square feet with a private terrace, many fitted with an infinity-edge hot tub. Suites run from 1,200 to 2,000 square feet with views of the Sea of Cortez. Villas range from two-bedroom layouts at 2,400 square feet to four-bedroom villas at 4,000 square feet, each with a full kitchen, dining area and outdoor terrace. Casonas come in one-, three- and four-bedroom configurations with Baja-inspired textiles, a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and an outdoor terrace with a grill. Haciendas add twice-daily housekeeping and a dedicated host, along with airport transportation for up to eight people and a golf cart for getting around the property.

The Spa at Esperanza sits at the meeting point of sea and desert, entered through wooden gates and shaded by a palapa roof. Treatments draw on the Medicine Wheel, and every treatment includes the Pasaje de Agua, a 30-minute hydrotherapy circuit rooted in the temazcal steam house tradition. Families can book a sea foraging excursion with the chef, horseback riding along the sand, or time at the Tortuguitas Kids Club, while the resort's pools and beach cabanas fill the rest of the day.
