Overview

HOSHINOYA Asuka is scheduled to open on 22 July 2027 in Asuka, Nara, on the resting place of a city built 1,400 years ago. The property sits among the architectural remains of that era, with landscapes designed around them so that the ruins form part of the view from each room.

The 35 rooms are housed in single-story villas with large tiled roofs, each referencing the rock-decorated landscape of Asuka village through high ceilings, sofas and stone-lined baths. The Tobutori Villa, the top category at 260 square metres, sits on a hill and includes two bedrooms, a living and dining area with dual views of a courtyard and terraced garden, and a separate stone bath pavilion overlooking a bamboo grove. The Akane Deluxe, at 105 to 107 square metres, is built around a cave-like stone bath chamber facing the terraced garden. The Mochizuki room, 70 to 79 square metres, looks over the same terraces through a sofa designed to recall natural rock.

Dinner draws on the cultural exchange of the Asuka period, from 538 to 710, structured around the philosophy of yin-yang and wuxing. Breakfast includes a bubu-zuke style meal built on hishio, an ancient fermented seasoning, served with sea bream and salmon. The property has one restaurant, a spa and massage facility, a public bath and an onsen, together with a café and lounge, a playroom, a pool and a meeting room. A shuttle service runs between Kashiharajingu-mae Station and the hotel.
