Overview
Hotel Principe di Savoia stands on Piazza della Repubblica in Milan's Porta Nuova district, two minutes on foot from Repubblica metro station and ten minutes from Stazione Centrale. The Neoclassical building opened in 1927 as Principe e Savoia, its position close to the station suiting the business travellers of the era. By the 1930s it had become a stop for international royalty, celebrities and artists performing at La Scala. The hotel took its present name in the 1980s, and a tenth floor was added in 1996, which now houses the Presidential Suite and the spa.
Thirteen room and suite categories range from the 27 square metre Classic Room to the 500 square metre Presidential Suite, which has its own swimming pool and spa. Several categories, including the Deluxe Terrace Room and Mosaic Room, face Piazza della Repubblica directly. Acanto Restaurant, led by chef Matteo Gabrielli, serves Lombard-inspired Italian dishes beside windows looking onto the hotel's garden and fountain. Guests can also eat at Il Salotto, drink at Principe Bar, or book the private Tavolo Cristallo table.
Club 10 Fitness & Beauty Center occupies the top floor, with an indoor pool, hydro massage room, steam room, sauna, five treatment rooms, a gym and an outdoor terrace overlooking the city. Guests arriving by car can use the hotel's complimentary shuttle to the centre, and up to two small dogs per room are welcome.
