Overview

Palácio Estoril Hotel, Golf & Wellness stands on the Cascais coast at Estoril, within reach of the beaches, the seafront promenade, the public gardens and the Estoril Golf Course. The hotel points to 96 years of history. Its Royal Gallery, created in February 2011, honours the Spanish, Italian, French, Bulgarian and Romanian royal families who have stayed there, and recalls past guests such as Grace Kelly, Orson Welles, Graham Greene and Amália Rodrigues.

Rooms and suites vary in size and view. The Classic Room and Superior Room each run 20 to 25 square metres; the Single Corporate Room is 18 square metres. The Superior Deluxe Room, on the upper floors, is 25 to 35 square metres with twin or queen beds, a marble bathroom with a separate bath and shower, and views over the hotel gardens, Estoril Park or Cascais bay, for a maximum of two guests. Suites include the Junior Suite at 38 square metres, the Executive Suite at 38 to 43 square metres, the Garden Suite at 45 square metres (a duplex with the bedroom upstairs and a sitting room on the ground floor, opening onto a terrace with garden and pool views) and the Palacio Deluxe Suite at 55 to 65 square metres. Rooms carry Molton Brown toiletries, feather and goose pillows, a digital safe and an LCD television with 100 cable channels.

Dining spans five venues: the poolside Bougainvillea Terrace, the more formal Grill Four Seasons, the plant-based Organic Caffè, Bar Estoril, and Varanda do Estoril at the golf course, which looks over the fairways and the Atlantic. The Estoril Wellness Center holds a gym with Technogym equipment, three studios for classes such as yoga, Pilates and Zumba, an indoor pool kept at 34ºC, a sauna, a Turkish bath, a Hammam and sensation showers. The Banyan Tree Spa adds massage and facial treatments drawn from Chinese, Indian and Thai traditions, with therapists trained at Banyan Tree Spa Academies in Indonesia, Thailand and China; every treatment except hand and foot treatments includes a 30-minute Calm Time of refreshments. Golf is played on the adjacent Estoril Golf Course, an 18-hole layout designed by Mackenzie Ross that rewards accuracy over distance, with caddies and clinics available.
