Overview

The Dorchester stands on Park Lane in Mayfair, facing Hyde Park, roughly halfway between Buckingham Palace and Marble Arch. The hotel opened on 20 April 1931, built in eighteen months as the world's first hotel constructed from reinforced concrete. It gained Grade II listed status in 1981 and completed a four-year renovation of its rooms, suites and public spaces in 2026.

Accommodation ranges from the 34 square metre Classic Room, with its King-size Vispring bed and Wildsmith bathroom range, up to signature suites such as the 146 square metre Regal Suite and The Oliver Messel Terrace Suite, designed by the set designer who dressed the hotel's façade for the 1953 coronation. Many rooms look over Mayfair or Hyde Park, and several suites connect to form larger configurations, including options of up to five bedrooms.

Dining spans Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, which holds three Michelin stars, through to the British menu at The Grill under culinary director Martyn Nail, Cantonese cooking at China Tang, and afternoon tea at The Promenade. Private dining is available at the Chef's Table, set inside the kitchen for up to twelve guests, and at The Wine Vault. The hotel's spa includes treatment rooms and fitness facilities, with pool access at the neighbouring 45 Park Lane.
