Overview

Aman Niseko opens in 2030 on the slopes of Mount Moiwa, in Niseko, Hokkaido. It will be Aman's fourth property in Japan and the only development on this particular mountain, combining a hotel with branded residences inside a nature reserve. The resort will house Japan's first destination wellness retreat, built around indoor and outdoor onsen, the hot spring bathing pools for which the region is known.

The main pavilion will hold a living room, two restaurants, a private dining room, a bar, a whiskey and cigar lounge, a library, a ski retail area, ski lockers, a boutique and a gallery. The 30 suites sit in a separate pavilion, each with a view of the mountain. Guests will have access to skiing and snowboarding in winter, and hiking, mountain biking and river rafting through the rest of the year. The architecture, designed by the late Kerry Hill, takes a contemporary approach with references to the traditional design motifs of Hokkaido's indigenous Ainu people.

Alongside the hotel, 31 free-standing, two-storey Aman Residences will offer one to three bedrooms, a loft-like mezzanine level, dedicated ski rooms and private onsen. Each residence shares the calming linear aesthetic of the main design but can be customised to individual preference.
