Overview

Amanfayun sits in a valley six kilometres from Hangzhou's West Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, surrounded by tea fields, woodland and a circuit of seven ancient Buddhist temples. Stone pathways connect shaded courtyards and 46 rooms, suites and villas, some occupying buildings over a century old. The resort opened in 2010, part of Aman's three-property presence in China alongside Amandayan in Lijiang and Amanyangyun in Shanghai.

Rooms and suites sit beneath clay tile roofs, each with its own layout and views over a courtyard or the surrounding forest. Villas are larger, two-storey and free-standing, with separate living areas and private massage rooms. Dining is spread along the Fayun Pathway, which winds through the resort's grounds, while the spa draws on Traditional Chinese Medicine and sits within gardens screened by bamboo groves, tea bushes and magnolia trees.

Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport lies 32 kilometres north, a drive of about 50 minutes. The resort can also arrange onward travel to Aman's other Chinese properties: Amandayan in Lijiang is reached by a flight of around three hours and 25 minutes plus a 50-minute transfer, while Amanyangyun in Shanghai is roughly three hours by car or an hour by high-speed train followed by a 30-minute transfer.
