BASK Gili Meno
A beachfront resort on the quietest of the three Gili islands, with a 35 metre infinity pool, an underwater sculpture on the house reef and turtles a few strokes from the sand.
Overview
Gili Meno is the smallest and least developed of the three islands off Lombok's north west coast: no cars, no motorbikes, a footpath around the whole island in under two hours. BASK sits on its western shore facing Gili Trawangan and the sunset, and it is the only property on the island built to this standard. The rooms run from garden studios with plunge pools to a three bedroom beachfront suite with its own pool ending at the sand, and the beach club at the centre of it has a 35 metre infinity pool, cabanas and a programme of music that gives the island its one evening of energy.
The reef in front is the reason many guests come. BASK Nest, a ring of underwater figures by the sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor, sits a short swim off the beach, and green turtles feed on the seagrass along the whole western shore. The resort runs reef restoration and beach cleaning that guests can join. Arrival is by fast boat from Bali, around two and a half hours, or fifteen minutes by speedboat from Lombok's Bangsal harbour; we arrange the boat and the harbour transfers so nobody stands on a jetty with luggage.
