Overview

Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp sits on a private wildlife concession of 25,000 hectares that borders the Moremi Game Reserve, in a part of the Okavango Delta where mopane woodland meets seasonally flooded grassland. Nine tented suites, including one family tent, are set on raised wooden platforms beneath mature ebony trees. Each suite has a bed, an extended private veranda with a shaded sitting area and a hanging daybed, and an ensuite bathroom with both an indoor and a screened outdoor rainshower. The family tent has an enclosed interleading walkway and takes up to four guests. The central guest area is built with teak floors and a high pitched, open-truss ceiling, and includes a food and coffee bar, a pool area with loungers and shaded salas, a massage sala and an open-air boma used for dining beneath the camp's ebony canopy.

Game drives run morning and afternoon and continue after sunset on the private concession, where over 400 bird species have been recorded, including the Pel's fishing owl. Guided walking safaris are available on the same land, away from vehicles. When water levels allow, guests can take mokoro trips, motorised boat cruises and catch-and-release fishing excursions into the Panhandle region, where tiger fish are among the catch. Scenic helicopter flights over the Delta can be arranged, including options with the doors removed for photography.

Children of all ages are welcome, with childminders available on request and a WildChild programme of activities for younger guests. WiFi is available in the tented suites only, and each tent is supplied with a pair of Swarovski binoculars for the stay. In 2018 the camp installed a solar photovoltaic plant and a Tesla Powerpack battery storage system, which now supplies 80% of its total energy consumption.
