Overview
Castell Son Claret sits at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains near Es Capdellà, a thirty-minute drive from Palma de Mallorca and its airport. The estate covers 132 hectares and traces its record as a 'possessió' back to 1450, when up to eighty local families worked its land for sheep, crops, bread and wine. It opened as a hotel in 2013, and the approach still follows a two-hundred-metre avenue of palm trees before reaching the restored 19th-century castle buildings.
The hotel holds 43 suites and rooms, ranging from the 25-square-metre Estate Courtyard, for one guest, up to the 105-square-metre Castell Suite for two. Dining is split between Sa Clastra, a Michelin-starred restaurant built around seasonal tasting menus inspired by the winds that shaped Mallorca, and Olivera, a Mediterranean restaurant that draws on the estate's own organic garden, olive oil and citrus. A wine cellar, an artisan bakery, the Pool Bar and Castell Bar complete the food and drink on site.
Bellesa de Claret Spa offers treatments made with ingredients grown on the estate, alongside a hammam, outdoor yoga in the gardens and a gym that opens around the clock. The property also hosts weddings and meetings in spaces that include Sa Tafona, a former oil press, a smaller Boardroom, and gardens that can hold up to 150 people. A recent expansion of its solar installation, with 133 panels and a new 50 kW inverter, is expected to generate over 99.55 megawatt-hours of renewable energy a year and prevent 45.5 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
