Hotel · Provence, France
A hotel built from a dozen seventeenth and eighteenth century houses around the parish church of Crillon-le-Brave, with views across the Vaucluse to Mont Ventoux.
Crillon le Brave occupies a hilltop village of the same name in the Vaucluse, where a dozen houses dating from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries have been joined into a single hotel around the parish church. The 26 rooms and 17 suites keep the old red floor tiles typical of Provence, paired with contemporary interiors by Charles Zana in linen and natural half-tones. Following its 2026 reopening, the hotel added nine new rooms, a second swimming pool, a space for culinary workshops and children's activities, and an expanded spa area.
The restaurant, La Table du Ventoux, is run by chef Thomas Lesage, whose bistronomic menus draw on produce from across the region: vegetables from local markets, poultry from Mazan, rice from the Camargue, goat's cheese from the Ventoux and strawberries from Carpentras. The terrace looks over vineyards towards Mont Ventoux, and the kitchen's sourcing has earned La Table du Ventoux two Écotable macarons. The Bar, with its vaulted ceiling and open fire, is set up for a game of pétanque or a quiet evening with a book.
The Spa des Écuries occupies the hotel's former eighteenth century stone stables, with three treatment rooms, one a double, and treatments by Tata Harper, SeeMy Cosmetics and Maison Caulières. A hammam, sauna, jacuzzi and cold baths complete the wellness area, along with two swimming pools, one reserved for adults, both heated through the autumn. A fitness room fitted with Technogym equipment occupies the old village chapel. Tennis and paddle courts are a short distance from the hotel, and the surrounding Vaucluse offers cycling up Mont Ventoux, walking in the Lubéron, and visits to the Palais des Papes in Avignon and the abbey of Notre-Dame de Sénanque.
