Overview

L'Alpaga sits above Megève, facing Mont Blanc on one side and the Aravis range on the other. The hotel is built as a cluster of chalets in traditional Savoyard style, forming what the property calls an Alpine hamlet. Wooden panelling, linen drapes and local artworks run through the 33 rooms and suites, two of which are adapted for guests with reduced mobility.

Room categories range from Classic and Deluxe doubles of 20 to 27 square metres up to a Three-Bedroom Suite of 88 square metres that sleeps six across three bedrooms. Family-oriented suites include a Parental Suite with a kitchen and balcony over the alpine pastures, and a One-Bedroom Prestige Family Suite with views of Mont Blanc and a double-sided fireplace between the living and dining areas. Interiors were shaped by design studio Saint-Lazare and architects Vicky Charles and Julia Corden of Charles & Co, alongside artworks by Gwenaëlle Grandjean, Gabriel Micheletti and photographer Karl Machatschek.

Dining runs from the informal, traditional Bistrot de L'Alpaga to the more relaxed Bar de L'Alpaga. The spa, built in stone and wood, holds a steam room, a plunge pool with massage jets, three treatment rooms, a Swedish bath, a sauna and a fitness room, with treatments drawn from Susanne Kaufmann and Oh My Cream. Outside, a heated pool kept at 30 degrees faces Mont Blanc year round. Activities organised through reception range from dog sledding, ice climbing and the Vallée Blanche off-piste route in winter to rafting, dog hiking and hot air balloon flights in summer, alongside a children's club called Little Alpagas and nightly marshmallows by the fire.
