Hotel · Ramatuelle, France
A private domain of garrigue and pine above Pampelonne bay, minutes from Saint-Tropez, with rooms, suites and villas facing the Mediterranean.
Overview
A few minutes from Saint-Tropez but away from its crowds, La Réserve Ramatuelle sits on a private domain in the Provencal garrigue above one of the bays of the French Riviera. The hotel's interior design pays tribute to the arty chic spirit of the Côte d'Azur of the 1950s, with sleek lines, white monochromes, raw materials and signed works of art. Rooms and suites range from the Deluxe Room Sea View, at garden level beside the Spa Nescens, to a run of named suites: Riviera, Volterra, Mediterranean, Quessine, Camarat, Escalet and the Taillat Panoramic Suite. Villas are also available, in 3, 4, 5 and 6-bedroom configurations, for guests wanting a private house on the estate.
Dining is built around Eric Canino, whose cooking at La Voile was awarded two stars in the 2020 Michelin Guide. Beyond La Voile, the hotel runs La Brasserie with its terrace, the poolside Italian restaurant La Piscine, the Japanese restaurant La Muña prepared by two master sushi chefs, L'Oliviera Bar overlooking the Mediterranean, and La Réserve à la Plage on Pampelonne beach, a bar, restaurant and relaxation area with interior decoration by Loro Piana, developed with Michel Reybier and Philippe Starck. The Spa Nescens covers 1,000 sqm and draws on the expertise of the Swiss brand Nescens, with 11 treatment rooms, a herbal tea bar, a 12-metre heated indoor pool with jets, a hammam and a fitness room open 24 hours. Better-Aging programs run from three to five days, built around objectives such as Bootcamp Performance or Mental Wellness Escape, and a Women's Better-Aging stay launched in 2024.
Outside the hotel, the Saint-Tropez peninsula and its hinterland are the draw: mountain biking and horseback riding through the vineyards and forest, paddleboard and kayak trips along the coast, jet ski runs to Escalet Beach, diving and fishing, a microlight flight over Cap Taillat and Cap Camarat, and golf on the Riviera's courses. Château La Mascaronne, under an hour's drive away, offers vineyard tours and tastings. Further afield, guests can arrange trips to the Gorges du Verdon by road, air or water, to the lavender fields of the Valensole Plateau, or by boat to Porquerolles, the Lérins Islands or Monaco. Ramatuelle village, with its cobbled streets and views over Pampelonne, is a short distance away, and the hotel runs a shuttle to Place des Lices in Saint-Tropez, Ramatuelle village and the beaches of Pampelonne, subject to availability.
