Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve sits where the Ayung River meets Ubud's rainforest, with 35 suites, 25 private pool villas and a dedicated Patih for every guest.
Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve stands where Ubud's rainforest meets the Ayung River, built within what the property describes as an indigenous Balinese village. The resort holds 35 suites and 25 private pool villas, each attended by a dedicated Patih, or butler, and designed by Jeffrey Wilkes with Balinese heritage and sustainable materials in mind. Suites open to resort views with balconies, while the villas, including the three-bedroom Mandapa River Estate, look onto the Ayung River or Ubud's forest with private pools.
Four dining concepts anchor the property: Kubu at Mandapa, built around a zero-waste philosophy with ingredients sourced within 100km; Ambar Ubud Bar, set on a cliff edge for Japanese fusion food and cocktails; Sawah Terrace Restaurant, serving dishes from the Indonesian archipelago by the river; and Dining Beyond, which moves meals to private corners of the property or offsite. The Pool Bar, The Library and 24-hour in-villa dining complete the options. Mandapa Spa sits along the river with five treatment rooms, a yoga pavilion, a meditation temple and a vitality pool, beside a 24-hour fitness center. The property arranges Balinese blessing rituals, sessions with local healers, rice field walks, Ayung River rafting, excursions to Jatiluwih and Tirta Empul, and Mandapa Camp activities for children.
Mandapa has been awarded Three MICHELIN Keys and named to The World's 50 Best Hotels 2025. Sustainability work includes Green Globe certification, river clean-up efforts on the Ayung under the Guardian of the River program, English classes for children in nearby Kedewatan, and a soap recycling initiative. Check-in is at 3:00 pm and check-out at 12:00 pm, with a minimum check-in age of 21. The nearest airport, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International, is 35 kilometres away; the hotel does not run its own shuttle.
