Overview
Raffles Singapore stands at 1 Beach Road, on the site it has occupied since 1887, when the hotel was established by the Armenian Sarkies Brothers. It is one of the world's few remaining functioning 19th-century hotels and is designated a National Monument, its Neo-Renaissance architecture dating from the 1900s. Over more than a century the hotel has hosted royalty, dignitaries and literary figures, a history the property still references throughout its public rooms and suite categories.
The hotel is entirely suites, 115 in total, arranged across several historic wings. State Room Suites sit in the Bras Basah wing with two separate entrances, one to the parlour and one to the bedroom. Residence Suites in the Raffles Arcade offer private verandahs and, in the two-bedroom configuration, are named after cinemas that once stood in the surrounding neighbourhood. Courtyard Suites cluster around the centre of the hotel with direct access to the Main Building, while Palm Court Suites overlook the Palm Court garden from the historic Palm Court wing. Personality Suites, twelve in total, carry memorabilia connected to guests who have stayed at Raffles over the past century. Every suite stay comes with the Raffles Butler Service.
Dining spans eight venues. 1887 by André serves French cuisine, 藝 yì by Jereme Leung explores Chinese regional cooking, and Butcher's Block is built around wood-fire cooking. The Tiffin Room has served North Indian food since 1892, one of Singapore's oldest restaurants of its kind, while the Long Bar has poured the Singapore Sling since 1915. Raffles Courtyard offers alfresco Southeast Asian dishes and cocktails, the Grand Lobby serves Afternoon Tea, and Writers Bar is set as a tribute to the authors who once resided at the hotel. Private dining rooms are available at Butcher's Block and yì by Jereme Leung, and the Chairman's Room can be booked for Afternoon Tea or a North Indian menu from the Tiffin Room. Raffles Spa, set in the hotel's gardens and reached via the Raffles Arcade, offers body and facial treatments, hydrothermal facilities, personal training, yoga, Pilates and a 25-metre outdoor pool.
