Overview

RISONARE Atami stands on a rise above the coastal city of Atami, with views across Sagami Bay from its public rooms and from windows in each of its 81 guest rooms. The interiors reference the sea's blue and the fireworks that light up Atami's night sky, a nod to the Atami Marine Fireworks Festival held more than ten times a year nearby. Rooms are over 60 square metres, with capacity for up to six guests, and check-in runs from 3pm to a midday check-out.

A semi-open-air onsen, Atami Onsen Yurayura, lets bathers look out over the bay while soaking in chloride-rich spring water. Inside the hotel's grounds, a forest grown around a 300-year-old camphor tree holds a treehouse, KUSUKUSU, set fifteen metres up, and a treetop adventure course nine metres above the ground. An indoor pool stays open year-round and includes a shallow pool for young children. Two restaurants cover the kitchen: Japanese Dining HANABI serves kaiseki built around local seafood such as turban shell and splendid alfonsino in a dining room designed by Klein Dytham architecture around the fireworks theme, while Studio Buffet MOGUMOGU runs a live kitchen and a pastry corner where children can try baking. A rooftop cafe, SORANO Beach Books & Cafe, spreads white sand across its floor eleven storeys up, and becomes an adults-only night lounge after six in the evening.

The spa works to a Citrus & Marine theme, using vegan-formulated products with 98 per cent naturally derived ingredients, and offers a maternity treatment for guests between 16 and 26 weeks pregnant. A free shuttle connects the hotel to Atami Station on the Tokaido Shinkansen line, and a guest-only desk near the station handles luggage storage and delivery. Anniversary items, including cakes, flower arrangements and champagne, can be arranged in the room or at dinner.
