Camp · , Botswana
A private two-bedroom suite on the banks of the Selinda Spillway, booked by a single party with its own vehicle, guide, chef and butler.
The Selinda Suite stands on the banks of the Selinda Spillway where it meets the Linyanti River, inside the private Selinda Reserve in northern Botswana. The reserve is known for large elephant herds, sightings of African wild dogs, and the Selinda Lion Pride, which featured in the National Geographic film "Birth of a Pride" by Dereck and Beverly Joubert. The suite is part of Great Plains Conservation's Réserve-Collection and is a Relais & Châteaux member.
The two-bedroom suite is entered through a private entrance leading into a covered dining and lounge area, with a private deck and swimming pool facing the Spillway. The two bedrooms flank this central space, each fitted with an environmentally friendly air conditioning system, a standing fan and a mosquito net over the bed. The en-suite bathroom has hand-beaten brass baths, double hot and cold vanity basins, an indoor shower and a flush toilet. The interior design is built around four themes, Water, Air, Earth and Fire, and is styled to recall the thatched village of Sangwali. A spa sits in the central area of Selinda Camp, and treatments can also be taken in the suite or on its open-air deck. A professional camera with a selection of lenses and a pair of high-quality binoculars are available to guests at no extra charge, and wildlife images and footage taken during the stay are given to guests to keep.
Guests staying in the Selinda Suite have their own private vehicle, safari guide, chef and butler for the length of their visit. Days can include open-vehicle safari drives, guided bush walks, and boat trips on the area's permanent waterways, along with seasonal tag-and-release fishing, though water-based activities depend on water levels through the year. Sightings in the reserve include lions, leopards, elephants, a range of antelope and hippos, and the area supports over 200 recorded bird species.
