Overview
Boulders Lodge takes its form from the boulders scattered along the banks of the Sand River in South Africa's Sabi Sand. The suites are built around and among these rock formations, with glass-walled interiors and handmade furnishings that echo the earth tones of the surrounding bush. Private decks are contoured to follow the curves of the river below, and each suite opens onto its own heated plunge pool. A separate swimming pool sits at the main lodge area, overlooking the bushveld.
The lodge sits within a wildlife sanctuary of 45,000 acres, known for high concentrations of big game and frequent leopard sightings. Guests can join game drives and guided safari walks, or spend time at the wine experience, the fitness centre, the boutique and gallery, or a yoga session. Stargazing and bird watching are also offered, alongside a demonstration of the anti-poaching canine unit that works across the reserve.
Singita Lowveld Trust, the non-profit conservation and community development partner active in this part of South Africa, runs biodiversity projects in the reserve aimed at protecting rhinos, leopards, lions, wild dogs and vultures, alongside programmes intended to bring long-term economic benefit to communities living alongside the wilderness area. Boulders is one of several Singita properties in the Sabi Sand and Kruger National Park area, close to Ebony Lodge and Castleton.
