Overview

Sweni Lodge stands within a stretch of riverine forest along the N'wanetsi River in Kruger National Park. The seven suites are set among the tree canopy, each with open-plan interiors, two bathrooms, a generously stocked minibar and an outdoor shower that looks onto the river. Birds, insects and hippos are a constant presence along the water, and animals come down to the riverbanks to drink within view of the lodge.

Guests have private access to 33,000 acres of this Kruger concession, with game drives and guided safari walks led by a Field Guide. The swimming pool overlooks the N'wanetsi River, a spot for watching wildlife come to the water between dips. Other activities on offer include a wine experience, yoga, wellness treatments, stargazing, bird watching, a fitness centre, a boutique and gallery, and the Singita Community Culinary School. The lodge's interiors take their palette from jewel tones found in the surrounding trees: teal, tan, pink and emerald, set against metallic and matte terracotta finishes.

Singita Lowveld Trust, the group's conservation and community partner in South Africa, runs biodiversity projects in the reserves where Singita operates, with a focus on species including rhinos, leopards, lions, wild dogs and vultures. Singita's in-house Journey Designers handle itinerary planning and logistics for guests travelling to Sweni and other properties in the collection. Lebombo, another Singita lodge in the same Kruger concession, lies nearby.
