Overview
Six Senses Fort Barwara occupies a 14th-century fort in Chauth Ka Barwara, Rajasthan, close to Ranthambore National Park. The fort was originally owned by a Rajasthani Royal Family and faces the Chauth ka Barwara Mandir temple across a lake. Two palaces and two temples stand within the walled fort, and the conservation project has retained this layout while converting the buildings into a hotel.
The 48 suites range from 70 to 280 square metres, each designed in a contemporary Rajasthani style with handmade mattresses and cotton bedding. Suites in the East Wing look over the surrounding countryside, while those in the West Wing face Barwara village. Individual categories vary considerably: the Burj Suite has a bathroom built into the fort's tower, the Rani Rajkumari Suite has a private garden and 180-degree views, and the Raja Man Singh Pool Suite includes a circular pool set into a fort tower along with a dining pavilion.
The Six Senses Spa covers 2,800 square metres within the fort's original women's palace and both temples, offering Ayurvedic treatments alongside programmes such as Detox, Sleep and Ayurvedic Rejuvenation. Guests can also arrange a tiger safari in Ranthambore National Park, a heritage and rewilding walk around the property, or a Puja ceremony in the fort's temple. Three restaurants serve Rajasthani and pan-Indian dishes, including The Cortile, an all-day dining room set beside a 14th-century courtyard. The resort is also working with the local community to rewild nearby forest and revive the Barwara lake.
