Overview

Tetiaroa is an atoll of twelve motus in French Polynesia, reached by a 20-minute flight from Tahiti aboard a Twin-Otter aircraft operated by Air Tetiaroa, which carries up to 14 passengers. The Brando occupies the Onetahi motu, with 35 private villas and one residence, the Teremoana Residence, set back from the beach. The resort was the first in the world to receive LEED Platinum certification, reflecting construction methods designed to limit disturbance to the surrounding ecosystem.

Dining runs across six venues: Bob's Bar, the original beachside bar associated with Marlon Brando's visits to the atoll; Les Mutinés, the resort's fine dining room themed around the story of the Bounty; Nami Teppanyaki, a Japanese grill; the all-day Beachcomber Cafe; Te Manu Bar, an elevated cocktail lounge; and private or in-villa dining arranged on request. The chef's background includes Plaza Athénée, Maison Christian Dior and Cheval Blanc St-Barth. Vegan options are available at every restaurant. The Varua Te Ora Polynesian Spa includes the treatment pavilion Fare Mana and the two-person treatment house Fare Manu, offering massage and facial treatments that combine Polynesian technique with modern methods.

Guided excursions, run by the Tetiaroa Society, cover the atoll's birdlife, reef, archaeology and coconut crabs, alongside kayaking, diving, deep-sea fishing and whale watching from August to October. Children aged 6 to 12 can join the Lagoon School, and those aged 8 to 12 can book adapted spa treatments with a parent present. The resort runs on sea water air conditioning and solar power, draws produce from its own organic gardens, and recycles glass back into sand. Tetiaroa Society, founded on Marlon Brando's vision for the atoll, carries out the conservation and research programme in partnership with the resort.
