Our notes
The coast road from Sorrento to Salerno is forty kilometres of hairpins with Positano, Amalfi and Ravello hung off it, and Capri twenty minutes by boat from any of them. Positano is where the photographs are taken; Ravello, three hundred metres up, is where the quiet is. We tend to split stays between one hill town and one on the water, and we arrange the boat days ourselves because the coast is far better seen from the sea than from the road. Book by January for June and September, the two months worth having.
