Our notes
Madrid is the Spanish capital that Spaniards prefer. The Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofía sit within a fifteen minute walk of each other, the Retiro park is beside them, and dinner does not start until nine. The grand hotels on the Paseo del Prado have been restored in the last decade and the townhouse hotels in Salamanca and Chamberí are now as good. We arrange private museum guides, a flamenco tablao that is not for tourists, and a day trip to Toledo or Segovia by car with lunch arranged.
