Overview
Amilla Maldives Resort & Residences occupies an island in the Baa Atoll, within the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Much of the land is left as jungle, fringed by white sand beaches, and the resort is built around 59 private villas, each with a living room, a Katheeb and a private pool, starting at 220 square metres. Villa types range from overwater Water, Lagoon and Reef Pool Villas to Beach Pool Villas set directly on the sand, two-bedroom Treetop Pool Villas reached along a jungle pathway, and larger Family and Two-Bedroom Beach Pool Villas. A separate collection of beachfront residences sits along one side of the island, built around courtyard gardens, game rooms, roof terraces and private beaches.
Dining runs across seven restaurants and three bars, plus an in-villa bar, and spans Japanese cuisine at the overwater Feeling Koi, Italian at Barolo, Arabian sharing plates at Tessera, pan-Asian cooking at East, pizza at Joe's Pizza, breakfast at Fresh and beach club fare at The Emperor Beach Club. Ingredients are drawn partly from the island's own organic garden, banana plantation, hydroponic garden, mushroom hut and coconut processing facility, and dietary lifestyle menus, including vegan, gluten-free and keto options, are available at every restaurant. Javvu Spa, open daily from 9am to 8pm, offers Balinese, Thai and hot stone massage across ten treatment pods, Dhivehi Beys herbal treatments sourced from the island's own gardens, Sensora light and sound therapy, and tailored three to seven day wellness programmes that include detox bath ceremonies in-villa on arrival and departure nights.
Beyond the spa, guests have access to a 3km island circuit track for running, walking and cycling, a jungle gym built from natural materials, a meditation labyrinth, cardio and strength studios, and one-on-one tennis coaching. The house reef has been named among the top 10 house reefs in the Maldives by Travel+Leisure Southeast Asia, and activities include scuba diving and snorkelling excursions to Hanifaru Bay. Amilla is part of Small Luxury Hotels' Considerate Collection and holds EarthCheck Gold Certification.
