Overview
Gili Lankanfushi occupies a single island in North Male Atoll, Maldives, and holds 45 villas and residences, each with separate areas for lounging, sleeping and bathing. The buildings are constructed from responsibly sourced local materials, including teak, palm wood, bamboo and palm fronds harvested during the island's rehabilitation. Guests reach the resort by speed boat transfer. Rooms use organic toiletries in refillable earthenware containers, and a dedicated desalination plant supplies still and sparkling water, reducing the use of plastic bottles.
Dining is spread across several venues, including Kashiveli, By The Sea, Fini Foni, the Overwater Bar and an underground wine cellar, alongside produce grown in the resort's own organic garden. Private dining can be arranged around the island, from a beachside barbeque to a blindfolded four course tasting menu called Dining for the Senses, or a rooftop dinner on a villa terrace. On the beverage side, guests can join a daily bartender competition, a cocktail masterclass, a sommelier-led wine tasting or a sunset gathering on a platform set in the lagoon. Wellness facilities include Meera Spa, Meera Ayurvedic Therapy, and a wellbeing programme covering yoga, fitness and tennis, with visiting specialists such as reiki practitioners and acupuncturists appearing through the Master in Residence series.
The resort describes itself as an environmental steward and runs Gili Veshi, a research facility that doubles as an underwater classroom and hosts the country's first coral lines project.
